What about the temple and clan for 2027?

The Temple and Clan are an important feature of our event, often inspired by the annual theme. Have you got an artwork idea bubbling up too? Then please read below to find out more.

The Temple has developed as a part of AfrikaBurn’s physical and emotional landscape as a space of contemplation and reflection. The Temple is intended as an area of sanctuary, a site of calm on the edge of the chaos and cacophony of Tankwa Town. A space to spend time with one’s own thoughts, reflect on one’s life, the lives of others, those recently passed, and ancestors.

Yes, we know the guideline documents are dated 2025 … we’ll be updating them soon!

The Clan is a sculptural representation of a San rock painting which we which we interpret as representing unity of intent, and is the chosen central effigy at the annual AfrikaBurn event.

It is a vital part of our creative infrastructure and it reflects the intrinsic character of AfrikaBurn, an ever-evolving work in creating the world anew.
