Radical Inclusion is one of our guiding principles, yet the reality of inequality in South Africa means that many still face barriers to participation at AfrikaBurn. Seen “Through the Prism” of the 2026 theme, we recognise that inclusion isn’t a single colour or act but rather it is a spectrum of lived experiences, identities, and means.

Anathi Tickets and Access Grants exist to enable fairer access by supporting those who don’t have the financial means to participate. This initiative reflects our commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion – ensuring more voices, perspectives, and stories can be part of Tankwa Town. We invite Theme Camps and Creative Crews to “welcome the stranger” by opening space in their teams for new participants.

A limited number of Anathi Tickets that are matched with Access Grants are available for artists and cultural practitioners who are African nationals and/or South African residents with limited financial means. Access Grants are small welfare and transport stipends. Basic camping equipment is also available for new participants joining the Chillaz camp.

If you’re part of a creative project that receives a Creative Grant, your Access Grant will be managed as part of that project’s funding process.
