Tankwa Town is a Decommodified space, and all who come through the gate are encouraged to participate in both the work and the play.

Our Supplier Programme (which you will form part of, should your registration be successful) has been designed to facilitate Creative Projects to work with external suppliers onsite in a way that aligns as far as possible with AfrikaBurn’s 11 Guiding Principles.

What does the AfrikaBurn Supplier policy say?

  • No goods or services will be permitted to be supplied to personal or private camps.
  • Suppliers may only provide goods and services to registered creative projects (Theme Camps, Artworks and Mutant Vehicles possessing a Project Registration Code).
  • Participants using suppliers must always accompany any suppliers setting up on their behalf.
  • All deliveries will happen in the designated delivery zone of the Suppliers Depot. Participants must collect their goods from the depot and transport them to their camps or arrange delivery from the delivery zone.
  • Service providers cannot deliver camping equipment (Eg: Dome Tents, Bedding, Kitchen equipment, crockery & cutlery etc) to the AfrikaBurn event site. All equipment is only permitted to be dry hired, collected from the company’s hire premises and transported to site by participants.

Supplying at AfrikaBurn

Operating at the event as a supplier is not the same as normal operations in your usual course of business: the temporary city is shaped by a strong ethos which specifically excludes paid labour within the event site.

Please ensure that you and your staff read the 11 principles that inform AfrikaBurn in order to understand the ethos, and work within it. Companies found flouting the guidelines of the Supplier Policy risk the chance of forfeiting their deposit and being prevented from trading with, or providing services to participants who attend future AfrikaBurn events.

Ensure that if your staff are staying on site at the event, that they have adequate shelter, warmth, water and food. All suppliers staying on site will be expected to sign a crew welfare agreement with AfrikaBurn. There are absolutely no food stalls onsite at AfrikaBurn whatsoever (because nothing is sold at the event) - everyone that attends the event is radically self-reliant and provides their own food and infrastructure. Plainly put - your staff will be unable to purchase any food onsite.

You will need to apply for a supplier event access ticket at a cost of R2799 for each of these crew members. This ticket type replaces the supplier build access ticket for standby crew.

Supplier Inventory

As a registered supplier of AfrikaBurn you are required to send an inventory of goods you will be providing onsite at AfrikaBurn 2025.

From this list AfrikaBurn will validate whether your clients have registered through the AfrikaBurn Registration Process. You agree to submit the 1st draft of the Inventory by Tuesday 8 April 2025 by 17h00. Your final inventory list needs to be submitted by Friday 18 April 2024 by 17h00.

The Registration Fee needs to be paid before access to the event by your crews is permitted. Failure to provide the inventory list and pay the registration fee will result in your company not being allowed access to the event site.

Supplier Briefings

AfrikaBurn will be hosting two Supplier Briefings. This is to ensure that all Suppliers have the opportunity to learn about our event, our culture and the principles that inform it. This is also an opportunity for you, as the Supplier, to finalise your registration and ask any questions you may have regarding the Supplier Registration, for a smooth entry onsite.

All Suppliers will HAVE TO attend one of the 2 briefings.

Briefing 1: Tuesday 6 March at 13h00 - 14h30
OR
Briefing 2: Tuesday 27 March at 10h00 - 11h30

Venue:    The Junction Hotel, 8 Junction Road, Salt River
